Alumni Spotlight – Jacob McNally
Imagine walking into a hotel lobby and seeing someone dressed in a full Iron Man costume. You look over and see people registering near a sign that says, “Con.” There are guys dressed as batman, others like Star Wars characters. “Is this ComicCon?” Your curiosity takes you into a room past the hustle and bustle. You see a massive banner with the words Level Up Church. In front of the banner is a table with Bibles, evangelistic tracts, comics, and–wait for it–a metal sword. The people at the table are telling visitors about Jesus. Beyond the table and banner is the Game Room. People are playing all types of games. It’s a geek’s paradise, and it’s all designed to reach one of the largest sub-cultures in the world for Christ–gamers, a group now comprised of 1.8 billion people. The church even names its small groups guilds.
This is the innovative vision of Jacob McNally, a graduate of Mid-America who pastors Level Up Church. He dropped by Mid-America during Report Hour at Chapel to share how students can leverage their passion for gaming to reach other gamers for Christ.
