Jay Adams Nouthetic Counseling Certificate is a biblical counseling certificate geared toward pastors and laypeople desiring to counsel based on God’s Word. This training program is a self-paced study series containing 11 courses that provide a robust education in biblical counseling fundamentals. This curriculum meets and far exceeds the minimum training requirement for certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
Biblical counseling is one of the fastest growing areas of ministry in churches and Christian organizations across the nation. The needs are immense and rapidly growing in today’s world. Pastors and staff are striving to meet the ever-increasing demands for counseling in their church and community. Other Christian ministries are also seeking well equipped, biblically trained counselors to provide true hope and genuine answers from the Word of God.
For over 50 years, Dr. Jay E. Adams, father of the modern biblical counseling movement, demonstrated through his lectures and books, such as his landmark book Competent to Counsel, how pastors can effectively apply God’s Word in the counseling room. He formed the Institute for Nouthetic Studies (INS) to serve as a vehicle through which he could minister to the Christian leaders who sought his help for training in biblical counseling. To ensure that his teaching ministry would remain in the hands of faithful people after his death, he entrusted the INS ministry to Mid-America which is committed to maintaining his legacy of faithfulness to the Scriptures and confidence in their sufficiency.
The Institute for Nouthetic Studies (INS) is part of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
