Mid-America Information Technology Featured in Podcast
Recognized widely as being on the forefront of educational technologies, Mid-America was prominently featured at this year’s Jenzabar Annual Meeting (JAM) in several commendable ways. Jenzabar is the provider of SONIS, the core institutional system for student records. Mid-America is noted as a key customer of SONIS and partners with the Jenzabar team.
The first highlight was the podcast interview where Al Santos, Mid-America’s Director of Information Technology (IT), was the featured guest along with Chris Myers, the lead developer of SONIS. The podcast discussion focused on the uniqueness of Mid-America and our experience in using SONIS.
The second highlight was a presentation during one of the breakout sessions. Al did an outstanding job presenting “Jenzabar SONIS Integration with Identity Management/SSO Portal (Quicklaunch).” This session outlined the ideas and collaboration that went into implementing the feature-rich Mid-America Portal (MAP), providing students, faculty, and staff with single sign-on convenience and security for all Mid-America’s online resources. A notable observation during this session was the number of Jenzabar SONIS personnel in attendance and the lively interest from the group in this innovative technological solution.
We also participated in a couple of forums called “Community Conversations” to share ideas on subjects such as technology-enabled learning models and the role of AI (artificial intelligence) in higher education.
Kudos to Al Santos for the hard work invested and representing our school in an excellent way. Thanks also to the entire Mid-America team for keeping our school on the forefront of innovative technologies. Our leadership in this area is being widely recognized by others.
