Dr. Wayne Cornett was raised in a Christian home and trusted Christ at the age of 13. In 1999 he surrendered to God’s call on his life to preach the gospel. He was licensed and ordained in the church where he was saved and baptized. He served as a staff evangelist/missions director as well.
Dr. Cornett received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Andersonville Baptist Seminary in 2002. Dr. Cornett received his Master of Divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2005 and was awarded the Broadman & Holman Seminarian Award for the highest GPA in his graduating class. In 2006, Dr. Cornett began his doctoral studies at MABTS. While working on his PhD, he completed two seminars at the Tyndale House, Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Dr. Cornett completed his PhD studies in 2009. His dissertation title was “Singular Readings of the Firsthand Scribe of Codex Sinaiticus in the Gospels: A Test Case in Scribal Habits.”
Dr. Cornett served as an interim pastor for several churches before accepting the call from Antioch Baptist Church in Wynne, Arkansas, to be their pastor in 2007. From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Cornett pastored First Baptist Church in Paintsville, Kentucky. He currently is serving as Pastor of County Line Baptist Church in Walnut, Mississippi. Dr. Cornett is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, and has presented papers at both the regional and national meetings. He has contributed thirteen articles in The Encyclopedia of Christianity in the United States.
Dr. Cornett is married to Elizabeth, and they have three daughters, Kirsten and Alyssa (twins) and Maddux, and one son, Titus.
Outside interest: Dr. Cornett is a marathon runner. He pushes Kirsten, who is in a wheelchair.
