In Midst of Pandemic Memphis Area College Keeps Tuition Affordable
MEMPHIS, TN – As students nationwide grapple with college tuition costs, The College at Mid-America, located in Memphis, TN, has managed to keep its tuition affordable for students while maintaining high academic standards.
“Like other institutions of higher education, we have experienced our share of enrollment challenges during the pandemic,” said Dr. Randy Redd, a business professor and the school’s Chief Financial Officer. “However, we believe in affordable and accessible education, and our donors continue to invest to help keep our tuition costs low and provide scholarships for students who need them.” Together with the option to stack additional scholarships, the tuition is even less.
Started in 2017, The College of Mid-America is part of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (began in 1972) and began offering undergraduate and associate degree programs for students looking to learn in a faith-based environment. The college also provides dual-enrollment options for high-school students looking to earn college credits.
“A major reason I transferred to The College at Mid-America is because of its affordability,” says Tranae Newsome, an undergraduate student studying Business Administration. “The College at Mid-America offered a degree program I am interested in. I would not be here if it weren’t for the lower tuition and the many scholarships the school offers.”
“Our student’s education should last forever, not their debt,” said Dr. Brad Thompson, Dean of The College at Mid-America. “We want students to know they can get an affordable and fully accredited education in a Christian environment right here in Memphis.”
