When a Telemarketer Gets “Televangelized”
I got a phone call from a telemarketer. He was trying to sell me something. I shyly asked him about salvation. I explained that he needed to be saved. He replied that he did not want to have to follow all those rules. I then explained that God works in you through the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out once you are saved. All he had to do was to submit to him. The phone call then ended.
My second interview was with a friend. She and I had met at a VBS. We had the opportunity to volunteer in the same class. It was then we started hanging out with each other. About a year later, we were talking, and we started talking about salvation. She mentioned wanting to be baptized but did not mention a conversion. I then explained briefly that baptism is not what determines salvation and that it went deeper than that. I decided that we had better plan a time to discuss this and go into more depth. We were never able, however, to have that conversation on the phone about that specific topic. Thankfully, I was able, at a later date, to share Scriptures with her about salvation and how a person is saved.
