Academic Advising Instructions

We are here for you and want you to succeed. To ensure you get the most effective academic advice to reach your goals, below are the requirements for academic advising each semester. While we provide academic advising, you are solely responsible for ensuring you have met the requirements (correct courses and hours) to graduate.

  1. Email your advisor for an appointment. Your advisor’s name and email address are on your Sonis Bio page.
  2. Log in to Sonis and print your Bio page. This page shows all courses you have taken and transferred. If you have additional courses that should be transferred, email associateregistrar@mabts.edu.
  3. Obtain a Degree Audit Worksheet for your degree program. Fill out the degree audit with the courses you have completed or are in the process of taking. This will allow you to see the remaining courses needed to finish the degree. KEEP THIS AUDIT until you graduate and add each semester’s completed courses to it. This will prevent you from having to redo the audit each semester. You are responsible for confirming the accuracy of your audit when you apply for graduation.
  4. Plan your next semester’s schedule using the most current course schedule. Classes offered usually stay the same but are subject to change from year to year. Electives, however, vary each semester.
  5. Meet with your Advisor. Students are REQUIRED to provide their advisor with a copy of their updated degree audit at the time of their advising appointment. Email associateregistrar@mabts.edu. if you have questions.
  6. You, the student, are ultimately responsible for completing all the requirements (correct courses and hours) to graduate.
  7. If you wish to change your degree program, a form is required. Fill out the Degree Change Request Form found on the Registrar’s page.
